Anastasia was returning to her house when she noticed a puppy by the side of the road just outside a fenced property. She immediately stopped and got out of her car, but the little guy ran through a hole of the fence and back into the property. Frustrated, she looked for a way to go in after him when she realized he wasn't alone. There were 3 puppies and a tiny mother.
Anastasia rang up a volunteer and together they managed to enter the abandoned property and load all 4 into the car. They took them directly to our vet for all the appropriate exams and the thumbs up. From there they were moved to our sanctuary.
All three pups and their mom are now in perfect health and we have managed to get them up to their desired weight. In time we will make sure they will be fully vetted and vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered/spayed.
We have been also training them so that they can become fully housebroken and leash trained by adoption time.
"VERA" is a bit shy when meeting strangers, but just one treat is enough to open her right up. She seems to like people but isn't sure if their intentions are good. However, once you gain her trust, she becomes very affectionate and demonstrative. She is social with other animals of all sizes, from our smallest to our gigantic Fiona. She is becoming more and more playful as time passes. It's like she is reclaiming her childhood now that she isn't responsible for her three babies anymore. She is a puppy herself after all, even if she has just given birth. She would be happy in any type of family.
