Adoption Process

The first step is to fill out our adoption application. This application asks questions about your family, lifestyle and expectations. We can then set up a telephone conversation which will help determine if the dog you are interested in is actually the best fit for you and your lifestyle. Your references will be checked and a home visit will be arranged. Our goal is to find our dogs a forever home and want to ensure that we place them in homes that are best suited for them.

Adoption Fee

Adopting a dog is a commitment. By charging an adoption fee we ensure that the process is taken seriously. Owning a pet means providing essentials such as a balanced diet, licensing, socialization, heartworm, tick and flea prevention and vaccinations. Remember, providing a home and care for a pet is a lifetime commitment. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated.

Adoption Application

Adopting a rescued dog is a serious endeavor and should not be done as a “spur of the moment” action. Our application form is quite extensive and it may take you 20 minutes or more to complete it. It is a multi-page form which can be filled out online.
Among other things, we will require the name and phone number of your Veterinarian (or intended veterinarian) and two personal references that are not family members.

Please be sure to advise them that they will be contacted by a volunteer from Stray Paws from Greece – in particular your Veterinarian as most will not release medical history without prior permission and this could result in an unnecessary delay of your application process.

If you have had pets in the past but do not currently have any, your most recent Veterinarian information is required. If you have never owned a pet before then the veterinary clinic you plan on using is required instead.
